Reading Paper/ English Language

What skills should you be using in Section 1:

• skimming, scanning and selecting (finding information)
• understand explicit and implicit information (if unsure of what explicit and implicit means check them out)
• analyse effects used by the writer and write about them

Section 2 is testing your reading and writing skills:

• have you understood the passage?
• have you understood the thoughts, feelings and views contained and reflected these in your writing?
• can you develop ideas from the passage?
• can you write fluent sentences that make sense?
• can you write using a wide range of vocabulary?
• are you writing correctly for the intended audience (= who the letter is for)?
